2011 Ford Fiesta SES Hatchback

Greetings!

I have a 2011 Ford Fiesta SES Hatchback... I appreciate the opportunity to learn and contribute on this forum.

Retired naval aviator with over 23 years of service, ordained pastor (Dallas Theological Seminary grad)...

I'm still licensed to fly but prefer to practice good theology by loving my wife, my family, watching college football, eating BBQ, and trying to keep cars running right.

Blessings - Bert

Feel free to post a picture of your Fiesta. These cars really benefit from a high quality engine oil and filter as well as the air filter.

When the time comes I was planning on using Motorcraft full synthetic and Motorcraft filters. Would you recommend otherwise?

Motorcraft is good oil. I have been using Castrol synthetic for quite a while. Pennzoil platinum synthetic and The Castrol synthetic both meet the latest GF6 spec's. There are others but I buy 5 quart jugs by the case. So, those were my choices then.
Using high quality oil ensures the obvious reduced wear but it also is cheap insurance against having a cam phaser become clogged up and wrecking the drivability, not to mention the high replacement cost for them.
I will post a video link in the maintenance section that details the Ti-VCT system operation. It is a Ford produced video that gives us a detailed explanation and depiction of how the engine timing is controlled. It's pretty cool technology and it also explains why you should use good quality oils and filters. The proper function of the 1.6 L,Ti-VCT engine is dependent upon the use and maintenance of good quality oils!

I'm definitely sold on full synthetic, though my S10's 2.2L does not have an overhead cam or VVT, it's made it to 265k with no smoke and no real loss of power that I can tell. It's just as slow as it has ever been lol. I've been using Valvoline Synpower in it since I bought it at 126k miles.
