Anyone know how wide of tire can be for onto the Ecosport?
I drive a lot soon I will need new tires. Summer time I drive on some roads and beaches.
Id like to a wider tire . Stock is the Titanium on 17x7 wheels and 205/50/17 tires. I'd like to try a 225/50/17 or a 225/45/17 or just go up one size to a 215/50/17
I think a 225/50/17 is to big, to tall, it's also over 3% larger.
Could I stretch to a 235 width?

I don't want to buy new wheels. The stock wheel should accommodate a 225 wish on the rim. But I don't know about clearance issues.

I don't think that wide tires will look good in small car. If you really want it then you might as well visit 4wheelonline for wheel and tire packages. The best brand to choose from for the Ecosport will be Goodyear, Falken, and Ceat.

Had the same thought. As far as the post about not looking good that is a subjective response. We all have our own likes and dislikes. I was also curious about 225/45/17. The height isn't the issue. Only 1/10" in shorter. The width is the question. 9/10" wider. I think the look would be an improvement. Just my opinion.
If you find the answer please post it.

Sorry. Not 9/10 wider. Stock size 205/50/17 is 8.5" wide. 225/45/17 is 8.9" wide. Memory not as good as it used to be at 69 years old.

Actually your first choice was correct. 205 to 225 is 20mm wider. About 8/10 of an inch.
Really haven't got a good review on here. I found another Forum in India about the Ecosport. 225/50/17 seems to be a popular upgrade. Poor roads in India and consumers aren't happy with the low profile tires.
Similar to me.

Probably going to buy 225/50/17. I have had my snow tires on till May. Stock tires aren't horrible. They will last through summer

As far as width. I've looked on Tirerack also. They stated the 225/45/17 is a confirmed fitment for the Ecosport.
Also my winter wheels are from a Ford Fiesta. I use 16x7 wheel and the 205/60/16 tires. Offset of the Fiesta wheels are 47.5mm. Ecosport is 38mm. So my winter wheels are significantly offset inward and zero issues. Also the SES Ecosport uses slightly wider wheels at 7.5"

The 225/50/17 tire OD actually matches the 205/60/16 size the closest. Only about .2 inches between them.

Also found in the India website 215/60/17 tires seem to be a popular upside for the 16" wheels. More tire choices in that size.

I think my biggest concern is if the anemic 1.0L engine can turn those larger tires without a significant notice of sluggishness.

I have an SES so for better or worse I have the 2LTR engine. Yes more power but also more gas consumption. My stock tires are 205/50-17.
As for your engine and turning bigger tires have looked up actual tire weights. Sometimes I've been surprised to see a larger size doesn't always equate to large weight increase per tire. It depends.
Thanks for the tip on 60 series tires. Forgive my ignorance but where on Tire Rack did you find 245/50-17 fits an Eco sport. I don't know how to look it up to get confirmation. Can you help?
